The Journey
The Church's canonisation process is a rigorous, prayerful discernment of a person's life of heroic virtue and miraculous intercession.
Step 1
The diocesan investigation into a person's virtuous life opens, beginning the formal cause for beatification.
Step 2
The Pope declares the person practised heroic virtue, confirming a life of holiness worthy of deeper examination.
Step 3
A verified miracle attributed to the candidate's intercession is confirmed, and beatification is proclaimed.
Step 4
A second miracle is confirmed after beatification, and the Pope canonises the person for universal veneration.
“Lord, may the example of your saints inspire us to live lives of holiness, and may their intercession protect us on our journey toward you. Through the prayers of the holy men and women of the Syro-Malabar Church, draw us ever closer to your heart.”
